This hardy perennial forms tidy clumps of deep green, strap-like leaves.  Spikes of purple flowers appear on spikes in late spring and early summer.  Ideal for borders, edging along paths, embankments and containers.  Very useful as a landscape plant when mass planted.  Grow in a sunny to partly shaded position in moist, well drained soil.  Tolerant of frost and coastal conditions.
